Q: As a Los Angeles dentist, do you perform general dentistry or only cosmetic dentistry?

A: We perform all aspects of general dentistry including Cleanings, Fillings, Crowns, Bridges, Dentures, Dental Implants and TMJ treatment. We also perform cosmetic dentistry including Implants, Veneers, Laser Bleaching, Orthodontics and Invisalign.

Q: Are you more expensive than another Los Angeles dentists in the Beverly Hills area?

A: Our fees are structured to be competitive with comparable dentists in our area. We base them on the level of care, skill and judgment required by us to deliver the highest quality care to our patients.

Q: I am afraid of going to the dentist. Can you do anything to help me feel better?

A: Seeing your dentist does not have to be painful or scary! Local anesthetic is used to numb the mouth for minor procedures. Nitrous Oxide and IV sedation are also available for our patients seeking a relaxed, comfortable dental experience.

Our office also offers cable television on ceiling mounted TVs as well as soothing music. Our patients find security and comfort in our skilled and caring hands.

Q: What is IV Sedation and why is it preferred by many patients to other methods of sedation?

A: IV Sedation, also known as Deep Conscious Sedation is used by Oral Surgeons and dentists with specialized training and special certification. Dr. Stan is fully trained and certified in IV Sedation. Since medications are administered directly into the bloodstream, the advantage is that if someone is not sedated enough, the doctor can administer more medication and the effects are instantaneous. Further, there is less “downtime” after the procedure, since the patient doesn’t have to wait as long as they would with an oral sedative for the effects to wear off. The drugs used for IV Sedation are more effective than the same drugs taken orally.

Q: My teeth don’t look as white as they used to — why not?

A: The brightness of your smile may be adversely affected by age, certain medications, as well as certain foods and beverages that can stain your teeth, such as:

• tobacco products
• coffee
• tea
• red wine
• colored juices
• curry
• soy
• minerals in well water
• cola drinks

Many stains can be removed or reduced by a thorough professional cleaning, however for tougher stains, we recommend 1-hour laser whitening or an at-home professional whitening kit.

Q: I know my smile needs some work, but I'm not sure if I can afford to have cosmetic dental work done.

A: The cost of cosmetic dental work depends on how much work is required. Like any cosmetic process, costs will increase with the amount of product or services you desire. Investment in cosmetic dentistry is an investment in you — and many of our satisfied patients say they wish they had come in to see us years ago because they enjoy their new, beautiful smiles so much. Q: My back teeth have a lot of silver and gold. Is there a less obvious way to fill cavities?

A: New advances in tooth-colored porcelain and composite materials not only allow fillings to go unnoticed, but are stronger and more wear-resistant than silver and gold.

Q: Why does my crown have a black or dark line along my gum?

A: Often, this is due to the shadow created by the metal at the margin of a porcelain crown. The metal is often used for strength and reinforcement for the overlayed porcelain. There is a way around this problem. Your dentist can instruct the lab to fabricate either an all-porcelain crown or a metal and porcelain crown with an all-porcelain edge (margin) to create a more natural cosmetic appearance. At our office, it is very rare for us to make crowns with metal margins.
